Herb Infused oil

HOW TO MAKE Herb INFUSED OIL

This process is always very fun and exciting. The recipe is virtually open-ended, meaning you can exchange our herbal suggestions with any other desired combination of beneficial plants. It is important to note that we measure nearly all of our ingredients by weight. This ensures that the amount of oil and beeswax used will consistently yield the desired potency.

Example Infused-Oil Recipe:
     - yield approx. 2.5 ounces clove and scull cap infused oil.

Ingredients:
  • 2.6 oz coconut oil
  • .20 oz dried arnica flowers
  • .50 oz dried osha root
  • 2 oz water

Tools/Equipment:
  • crockpot or double-boil system
  • metal, glass, or other appropriate measuring container(s),
  • scale for measuring ingredients
  • Bowl for settling formula
  • immersion/stick blender
  • Cheesecloth
  • Colander
  • Fridge or cooling container.

Directions:
  1. Weigh out all ingredients and place into a crockpot
  2. Bring the crockpot/double boiler to a steady, medium/low temperature. Let the herbs, water, and coconut oil slowly cook for at least 4 hours.
  3. Cool and strain herbs from oil and water into another bowl by using colander and cheesecloth
  4. Let cool to room temperature, then place contents into a fridge to harden.
  5. Once cooled and hard, the oil and water will have separated naturally. Remove the oil from the top of the water. Save the water for soap-making. Wrap the block of oil in paper towels and place in a cool place to cure and dry.

Storage: Infused Oils can be stored in the fridge, or temporarily frozen until you're ready to use them.
